...or, how I will never, ever complain ever again about EBD not keeping her characters straight.

I've been reading through draft two of Shadow Games and I've discovered that:

1) I can't decide whether one character's surname is Mendez or Martinez
2) Within about three paragraphs, Miller is both the bad girl and the good guy
3) I have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too many surnames beginning with M (Miller, Mendez, Marchant) [though at this late stage in the game, I don't think I'm going to be doing too many name changes]

*sigh*

*hugs*

If it's any comfort, I never noticed any of those things.

It is and it isn't; I first knew there was something up with the Mendez/Martinez thing when I caught myself doing it on Saturday. I just didn't realise how many times I'd done it prior to! The Miller one was even worse - I know what happened with that; I got confused as to which Gina I was writing about...

there is a reason "find all/replace all" was invented, if it becomes and issue. personally, and we all know what a tight ass i am about stuff, i didn't notice it.

True enough - and I may yet do that.

1) I can't decide whether one character's surname is Mendez or Martinez

You could just meld them into Menendez and let the connotations fly.

*grins* I could indeed. At least, as someone's pointed out, I can fix this one via find/replace...

*lol* I know how you feel! After doing my work on my book, I only wonder now how she didn't make MORE mistakes!

Ahhh, gotta love find and replace. Once I can finally finish a novel, I'm almost afraid to see how many mistakes somebody might find.

And totally unrelated to the subject at hand - I'm loving your cute plot bunny icon! :)

That is why editors and beta-readers are God's gift to writers.

And thanks. [livejournal.com profile] sangerin made it for me.
