Well, here we are, first entry of 2005 and I have a few randomly different things to discuss. Hopefully, it's all going to make sense. If it doesn't, blame the hangover. Or the lack of sleep. Or too much Buffy. (Yes, there is such a thing. [livejournal.com profile] eternalmusings I know you won't agree with that statement!)

So...

First things first; as I've just mentioned, I've been watching really, really a lot of Buffy in the last few days. I've now seen the whole of season 3, and made a good start on season 5, AND I've watched the odd episode of season 7, too. Yes, random choices. I am queen of randomosity right now. I've drawn a few conclusions which I'm going to inflict share with you.
1) I really saw a LOT of season 3 when it was first broadcast on BBC. This surprises me greatly because I wasn't conscious of doing it at the time. I figured I'd seen, maybe, three episodes. Top whack. Having now watched the entire season, back to back [more or less, at any rate!], I've realised that actually? I must have seen about half-three quarters of the season! How do you NOT REALISE YOU'VE DONE THAT?!?!? *headdesk*
2) I really, really like Oz.
3) I found myself pining for Dawn and Spike (which explains the odd season 7 episode).
4) Sophia Crawford and Sarah Michelle Gellar really really didn't look much like each other.
5) As much fun as season 3 is, I'm liking season 5 a whole lot more.
6) If you ignore icky snake monsters and slug/cockroach things (ewwwwww!)
7) Given the sheer number of stunts and fights, I'm a little on the surprised side that Dan was never involved in either Buffy or Angel.
8) Not that I'm actually, necessarily, feeling the lack because Buffy does use some very good stunt people, I'm just surprised.

Between shots of Buffy, I've been watching Airwolf and reacquainting myself with the whole series and genre. Sure, it's corny in places and some of it is now very, very dated in the computer stakes, BUT! Some of the writing is easily as good (better in fact) as anything on TV these days. The other really GOOD thing, and this is something that's common in the Joss'verse too, is that although the good guys tend to win, not every episode has a happy ending; when the show tackled characters who had problems (like alcoholism), there was no easy ending with everything working out perfect. The drawback to this is I have a honking big plot bunny. Admittedly, I've had said plot bunny for *counts* ten years (!!), but I really might do something about it this time.

Or I might just read Lochness' Airwolf trilogy and remind myself that the seminal fic has already been written and there ain't a hope in heck of my competing with that one.

But, speaking of plot bunnies, I found myself reviewing a whole bunch of my old files in the last week and I came across most of the files for Twist of Fate. Anyone remember that? *deafening silence* Thought not. Some of it was surprisingly good though - even if I DID turn Jen into a hocking big ol' Mary Sue. I've also been thinking, a lot, about Soaring Eagle. I'm *hoping* I'm going to get enough inspiration out of the Airwolf epies I've seen this week to put together a new installment, with a view to finally getting this one finished. OTOH, I probably ought to be doing something with Shadow Games. And then there is the whole Five by Five thing...

And did I mention I had an Airwolf idea?

Well, it's that time of year to make resolutions about the year ahead and I'm not immune from that whole kick, so, these are mine:
1) Lose weight. Again.
2) Get Shadow Games published.
3) Finish the Identiverse.
If that one sounds ambitious, I'm probably NOT going to get through the last four Far Future stories. As much fun as they'd be to do, I don't know if I'd be able to finish them, once I start, and the end of Five by Five IS a point to stop...
4) Be more positive and less whiny.

We'll see how well I do!

So that's me. All randomed out now.

I not only remember Twist of Fate, I liked it a lot and was quite disappointed when you dropped it.
