OK, I know. Statement of the blinking obvious - bite me ;) It was not an unproductive stay-up.
As things stand, Shadow Games is now twenty-four chapters long, or just about sixty thousand words. I have three chapters to go. With a little luck, Wednesday night should see me writing the last words on it.
YAY!
It's also, probably, time for me to do another round of Q&A on the subject of Shadow Games, cos I know there are probably people reading this going "wtf is this Shadow Games she keeps yapping about?" Soooooo...here's to see if I can answer those questions:
So, like, what is Shadow Games?
It's a novel-length story I've been working on since mid-March. It's the reason virtually all my fanfic-type projects have gone on hold. I had hoped I'd be able to juggle stories so that I could get Five by Five (my current Identiverse story) finished, but it just hasn't panned out that way.
Novel-length? You mean like profic?
Yep. This is my first attempt at a full on, proper, professional novel.
When's it gonna be published?
I don't know. Once I have it polished up, tidied up and (above all) finished, I shall be taking it around agents and publishers in the hopes of selling it. It's likely to be a long process and there are no guarentees, but as soon as I know, I will be putting the details up here.
All right, then. So what's it about?
It's a real-world thriller (by which I mean it's set in the here and now as opposed to a fantasy world, or even a world like the PRU which is basically here but with a few twists). It's about a disk and it's about a drug and it's about having the rules change on you and it's about finding someone you can trust.
You mentioned you had a lot of locations; is that still true?
Yep. I have action taking place in California, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Nevada (briefly), Washington, Idaho and Utah (briefly). There's almost certainly going to be at least one scene in Washington DC as well. It's taken a lot of research (and also, a lot of brain picking *waves thank you to my trio of victims*) and I have to say, Mapquest has become my new favourite website!
And bed now.

Date: 2004-06-28 11:20 am (UTC)I certainly try to be a fast writer, but I also try to be realistic. And while three chapters in three days mightn't sound too realistic, it's only around about 7000 words, which is completely within the realms of the possible. Especially given the total lack of proper work I've got right now!
