Good news: The first research tome arrived safe and sound this morning (at least a day early, on Amazon's estimates!) so I can crack on and write the intervening chapters between nine and where-ever-the-heck I'm actually at (I think it's going to prove to be around about chapter fourteenish - but I'm not casting that into stone just yet, on the basis that my work tends to sprout like dandilions fed on coffee*) once I've read it over.

Not so good news: Work is about to go completely nuts. We've got two projects two parts done that I'm liable to be working on for completion purposes, probably before the end of this month, and then there are South African Affair, who need their 2004/5 site doing by the end of this month. There's also some work pending for the other 'Affair' websites (that's five more sites)...and there are probably a few other things kicking around that'll need doing too.

Urk.

Oh, and did I mention my boss goes on vacation for the last week of May/first week of June?

Fun. Not.

All of which means, I'm liable to not be doing too much in the way of writing at work, which means my writing speed will be cut :( And I had been hoping to get Shadow Games done by the end of June...

Frustrating. But at least it's not a hard deadline. The thing is to try to keep going, even if it's only half an hour a day, so you don't lose momentum.

Real life. It's a bitch.

True, true and very true.

I think it's frustrating, more than anything, because I've more or less been sitting on my hands in boredom here at work for most of the last five months, so to have all the work come up for one three-four week period is...ugh.

Who knows. Maybe I'm being overly pessamistic...
