Aug. 11th, 2007 09:22 amFor those of you who know her - and for those of you who've heard me talk about her - Jessie was put to sleep this morning.
She was struggling to breathe and had wasted away so much in the last two days that what ought to have been a hard decision was painfully easy.
She has gone to a better place - and she's probably already tapping her paw, waiting for the rest of us to catch up, because that's what Jessie did. She was a nursemaid and a worrywart. She made sure you went to bed on time or that you didn't stay in the bath too long. She looked after you when you were sick; she supervised you when you hung the laundry out to dry. She watched the cricket with you and made sure you weeded the garden correctly. She also tried to make sure we were properly fed - though live grasshoppers and dead moths were perhaps not the best way to do that.
She will be dearly missed but not forgotten.
