Stupid **** Morons

athersgeoSo. I seem to be having a Wednesday - and it's got an early start. Half way to work, someone did their best to try and kill me.
No, sadly, that isn't a piece of hyperbole or an overstatement or exageration. I also don't think it was intentional. It was just simply clueless, braindead driving.
The particular stretch of road in question goes from two lanes to three, with the left lane of the two feeding to the middle-and-left of the three and the right lane feeding to the right. It's the road arrangement of a deaf, blind and drunk hedgehog, but *shrug* that's Bristol for you.
For me to get where I'm going, I need to take the middle lane (when it splits to three), so in the two lane piece, I'm always in the left hand lane. Almost invariably, however, there is some cocky little basket in the right hand lane (of the two) who decides that where they need to be is the middle lane (of the three), so they pull across. It's such a regular occurance that I'm used to it, I expect it and I handle it. Equally, 99 times out of a 100, they're either doing it well in front of me, or they've looked before doing it.
Not this morning.
I was within two feet of being level with this particular VW Golf when the driver (a woman) decided that Whoops, she was in the wrong lane...and pulled out.
Had it been a normal morning, I would now be on my way, probably, to Frenchay, having been involved in a truck/fiesta/golf sandwich. Had I had slightly slower reactions, I'd have had my car written off.
Luckily for me, the far left lane was empty (I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times that's happened since Christmas!) and I had room to swerve around her.
Grah.
There'll be an update on my list o doom a bit later. When my hands have decided to stop shaking.

Date: 2007-03-07 09:42 am (UTC)I think she did realise it; she had to then follow me for about two miles and she did it *extremely* tentatively (I don't think she got above 15mph the whole way [which must have pissed off the people behind her!]). I just hope it went in in such a way that she never, ever tries to do it again. *hugs back*

It certainly shook her up, to judge by the rather tentative way she subsequently followed me, so there is at least some hope she realised how close she'd come!
