Yuck

We have at least an inch of snow. (I say at least. It's about an inch on the ground, but I cleared a good inch and a half off my car.) The snow is still falling. The only reason I'm currently in the office is because two thirds of my work is on the office network.

I'm probably going to cling on for a couple of hours (long enough to transfer what I need to somewhere where it can be accessed from home, basically) and then head for home. The drive here took me 45 minutes (even with traffic it doesn't normally take more than 20 [though the drive home takes longer, largely because of Ikea]) and I can only assume the drive home's going to be worse.

Ugh.

And the stupid thing is, this seems to have taken the authorities here by complete surprise. Half the roads are badly gritted (the other half aren't gritted at all!), the motorways around Bristol are in chaos...and yet! Yet! The Met Office were saying yesterday this was going to happen and they were pretty clear that Bristol was liable to cop at least some of it, so frankly, the authorities have got no excuse.

All I can figure is that they assumed Bristol would miss out (it usually does).

Ugh.

It's almost enough to make you want to move to a tropical island...
