Well, a happy new year to you all. I hope that everyone had a safe and happy new year's eve and that no-one is *too* ill this morning. Mine was quiet, involved copious amounts of Bailey's and repeats of QI...

Right; that out of the way, it's time to get on to the reason behind posting, namely stating my goals for the year ahead and for the month ahead as well. Yes, all right, they're resolutions by any other name!

So what do I want to do with this shiny new year? There are a few things - some a little more esoteric than others. In no particular order...
-Lose weight and improve my fitness level - to this end, I'm doing something a little different this time round; I've actually joined a diet club (albeit one run online) and have a meal plan to follow. Some of the portions are HEUUUUGE, but at three days in, I've already lost four pounds, so there is hope that come the March gather, I will be slyph like...
-Finish Soaring Eagle - This has gone on long enough! I started it in December of 2003 and...yeah. Bugs the heck out of me that I've been so dismal at getting it finished. But I *WILL* get it done. *nid*
-Work harder on OU - I got my course mark back for my last course over Christmas and I was a little bit disappointed with it (it was the equivalent of a 2:2, which is nothing to sneeze about, considering the last time I tried higher education I barely got passing grades) because I essentially sabotaged the mark with one rather dire essay. I don't want to do that again; so there will be much more work. *nid*
-Visit friends more - should be self-explanatory
-Deal with A Chinese Adventure - again, should be self-explanatory

-Soaring Eagle
Start the year as I mean to go on; I want to try and put at least one part (preferably two) out this month. I don't think I can actually finish it off this month, but I can certainly get it well on the way!
-Mistletoe and Wine
This I *CAN* finish this this month. Assuming I can mount that gurt big heap of writer's block sitting over there...
-Estranged
Again, it's unlikely I can finish this off in January, but I want to get it well underway.
-A Chinese Adventure
I've read it through; I have a pile of notes and back story. What I want to get done this month is a lengthy polishing session on the opening three or four chapters so that I can query GGB.
-OU
The course doesn't actually start until February, but as it's a creative writing course and the first section is about good writing habits it seems prudent to get a crack on!

So there we go. That's what I plan to get up to for the next twelve months - and also, more immediately.

And, as they say, there's no time like the present. So I'm off to eat a couple of kiwi fruit (don't ask) and start on some writing - probably for Soaring Eagle.

Happy New Year! *new year hugs*

Which diet club have you joined? Well done for the start (especially in the just-after-Christmas bit)!

*huggles back* :)

It's Tesco Diets (thus proving that Tesco pretty much do everything barring undertaking - and I'm sure they're working on that!), which means the shopping list actually bears some resemblance to what's available in my supermarket. I've been on their mailing list for a long while, getting tips and hints on how to lose weight, but I thought I'd take the final plunge.

Goodness I hadn't realised there was Tesco diet! If it's sensible for shopping lists that is very helpful - I hope it goes well for you :)

CoOp do undertaking, btw!

*grins* I know about the CoOp's undertaking service - there's one opposite my local post office, although I do think it's a bit incongruous them having that rather bright and cheerful logo CoOp have in the window of a funeral home...

Thank you :)
