This Kiss...
Jun. 26th, 2006 10:50 amThere are three things I find incredibly difficult to write: Humour, Smut and Kissing.
The first two are relatively easy to avoid writing. Well, OK, so humour tends to sneak in under the radar a little bit - where I really struggle is if I set out to be funny. That seldom ends well. Unfortunately, kissing is something that is occasionally required and, even more occasionally, requires description.
And I'm just flat out not very good at it - or I don't feel as if I am.
So you'd think, therefore, that I'd write stuff to avoid having to describe kisses.
But no.
Case in point, my current saga has a plot point that hinges on a kiss. Now, maybe I could get away without describing it, except that it's a rather important point. It sets up a later plot strand and it also moves the story it's actually in forwards. Yeah. Important kiss. Not really something I can skimp on, then.
So I'm stuck.
I have to describe it. It needs to be at least semi-hot (I don't want to blow my PG-13 rating, but at the same time, it changes the way one character views another - so a mild little peck on the cheek just ain't gonna cut it!). And yeah, it needs to move the story forwards too.
All on one little kiss.
You know; I think I'd rather write a thirty-participant battle scene than this...

I couldnt write anything, but romance is probably the hardest to do, because however well it is written, if you read it out loud it sounds awful and comedic to the extreme!
*Remembers a certain stories ending!!*

Date: 2006-06-26 10:35 am (UTC)I'm certainly trying to find something I can work from; the difficulty I've got is the rather unique set up on this occasion.
And the truly frustrating thing is I can *SEE* how it should unfold. If I was writing this from the standpoint of someone not actually involved (!) it'd be a snap.
*sigh*
I take back anything I've ever said about the difficulties of writing CS fanfic!
