Explain Your Live Journal Name and its Meaning meme. When you're done, tag as many people as there are letters in your name.
Oh boy. Back when I was in university, I hung out with the cricket club - this should surprise no-one! - and one of the lads bestowed on me the nickname "athers", shortly after the start of my second year because "you bat like him". (For those not in the know at this point, Athers [the real one] is Michael Atherton the former England opening batsman who had something of a reputation for playing defensively, and since my batting was somewhat lacking at the time, that was my entire method of play...yeah.)
A couple of weeks after gaining the nickname, I needed to set up some webspace. At the time, Geocities was the place to go (this was before Geocities and Yahoo merged), so I signed up and needed a username that was six letters long. So I used Athers.
Then the Geocities and Yahoo merger happened and since there was already an "athers" in the Yahoo system I became athers.geo.
Overtime, I've dropped the . (because most systems don't like you having non-alphanumeric characters in your username) and there you go.
Hands up those I've now completely confused!
Tagging...well, anyone on my flist who wants it.
There'll be a proper update later. Got to go buy car tax and junk, first...
