athersgeo: Darth Vader meets Riverdance (Smirk)

1) How old were you: 17
2) What grade were you in: UK equivalent to grade 11 (first year A-levels)
3) Where did you go to school: Filton College, Filton
4) Where did you work: Westbury Taxis
5) Where did you live: Bristol
6) How was your hair style: Feminine sort of flat-toppy spiky thing, or growing out from one.
7) Did you wear braces: Nope - got rid of them by that stage
8) Did you wear contacts: No
9) Did you wear glasses: Yes
10) Who was your best friend: I didn't really have one. I was moving away from the friends I'd had at school and I never really made any in college.
11) Who was your boyfriend/girlfriend: I'd actually just dumped the guy, so I was single.
12) Who was your celebrity crush: Richie Sambora (no change there, then)
13) Who was your regular-person crush: None, see the answer to number 11. Not that I crushed on him, anyway!
14) Were you a virgin: Yes
15) How many piercings did you have: Ears
16) How many tattoos did you have: None
17) What was your favorite band/singer/rapper: Bon Jovi/Richie Sambora (again, no change there, then)
18) Had you smoked a cigarette yet: No
19) Had you gotten drunk or high yet: Not stonkingly so but yes I'd got tipsy and I'd had a 'high' inflicted on me via passive smoking.
20) Had you driven yet: Yes. Once.
21) If so which car: It was a Nissan Micra and it was in a supermarket carpark. I stalled. I didn't try again for another five years!
22) Which of your pets were still alive: Both of them, though we didn't actually get them for another month (our first cat died in February 1996, of old age - she just walked into her favourite corner, lay down and went to sleep and never woke up again. We didn't get our current two from the rescue place until May)
23) Looking back, are you where you thought you would be in 2006: Not in the slightest. For one thing, I'd assumed I'd have finished a university degree. For another, I hadn't ever been online at that point, so the thought of me writing webpages for a living simply hadn't occured to me!
24) If you could change one thing from the past 10 years what would it be: I'm not sure I would change anything, except possibly to NOT buy the N-reg Fiesta - with hindsight, I should have got something newer then. For the most part, while the last ten years haven't been entirely fun and there's been a lot of shit one way or another, without that lot, I wouldn't be where I am today and I wouldn't have the circle of friends I have now and I treasure those friends more than anything.

Because I don't think anyone's going to get the last few, here are the complete answers.

  1. You may not recall the moment that you asked me/But your invitation was clear
No-one got this; I'm not surprised. It's Marillion "Uninvited Guest"

  2. Maybe I've forgotten/The name and the address - Got by [livejournal.com profile] annclifford
The answer is New Order "Regret" - so how many of you are now banging your head against the desk and groaning "I should have known?"

  3. I spent twenty years/Tryin' to get outta this place - got by [livejournal.com profile] redjacket
"Who Says You Can't Go Home" by Bon Jovi

  4. Is it getting better?/Or do you feel the same? - got by [livejournal.com profile] pim2005
    "One" - U2

  5. Everytime you point your finger/three more point right back at you - got by [livejournal.com profile] ladyguinevere83 with an honorable mention to [livejournal.com profile] katie_pillar who got the band but not the song :)
The band is Goo Goo Dolls, the song is "Amigone"

  6. All my life I've been waiting/for you to bring a fairy tale - got by [livejournal.com profile] kittykatkins
    Anastasia - "Left Outside Alone"

  7. So long I've waited for you to come to me
Slightly surprised no-one got this, since most of my f'list are 80s music fans. It's T'Pau and "Bridge of Spies"

  8. So you're in love with someone else/Someone who burns within your soul - got by [livejournal.com profile] annclifford
Del Amitri - "The Last To Know"

  9. Sometimes/I feel/You're not/listening - got by [livejournal.com profile] kittykatkins
Amy Studt - "Just A Little Girl"

  10. I've been long/a long way from here - got by [livejournal.com profile] redjacket
I horlicksed up the lyric when I posted the quiz, which probably didn't help anyone get it! The answer is Sheryl Crow and "If It Makes You Happy"

  11. Where were you?/When I was burned and broken
Not surprised no-one got this, it's Pink Floyd "Coming Back To Life"

  12. I'm so high/I can feel heaven
This one surprises me, considering it was all over MTV/VH1/commercial radio when it was out, to say nothing of being part of the soundtrack for one of the top films of 2002, it's Chad Kroeger and "Hero"

  13. Hey mister can you tell me/What this world's about - got by [livejournal.com profile] kahva
Richie Sambora "Stranger In This Town". Surprisingly, this WASN'T attributed to Bon Jovi in the guesses...

  14. I gave you what you wanted/God couldn't give you what you need - got by [livejournal.com profile] kittykatkins
While this IS Bon Jovi with "Wild Is The Wind"

  15. No I don't know where I'm going/But I sure know where I've been - got by [livejournal.com profile] tptigger
And yet this one was tagged as Bon Jovi by three or four different people! It's not. It's actually by Whitesnake and it's "Here I Go Again"

  16. Out of touch/Out of reach
OK, it's an obscure lyric, but given the 80s fans and rock fans on the f'list, I'm surprised no-one got Def Leppard and "Hysteria"

  17. I wake up in the morning and I raise my weary head/I got an old coat for my pillow and the earth was last night's bed - got by [livejournal.com profile] kittykatkins
Minus the rest of the band, it's Jon Bon Jovi "Blaze of Glory"

  18. Driven through the canyons I was/Dazzled by the mountains and we didn’t go very far
No Semisonic fans reading? This is "California"

  19. Armalite, street lights, nightsights/Searching the roofs for a sniper, a viper, a fighter
Marillion again, this time "Forgotten Sons"

  20. Drive the road/To your surrender
And my favourite Marillion track to round off, this is "Afraid of Sunlight"

Any you're kicking yourself over?

Um ... interesting info, but what question, exactly, were you answering? I'm guessing something like "What/who/where were you 10 years ago", but ... getting old 'n' forgetful, dear? *grins*

*chuckles*

I thought there'd be a few folks kicking 'em selves over 15.

I can't get over people saying it was Bon Jovi though! That just amuses me insanely.

I only know the Whitesnake song from a compilation album, so I'm not a fan as such, but offhand I'd say it's an easy enough mistake to make; it is similar in style to some Bon Jovi stuff, especially if you (like me) like BJ, but are not obsessive about it. :)

And thanks for fixing! *goes off to do meme*

Oh, I know they're similar in style - witness the fact that I (the BJ obsessive) also like them and a bunch of other, similar bands. It mostly just amuses me because I know that in fact, Whitesnake and BJ aren't all that similar at all - just the songs that became hits *grin*

They're worth checking out - though I'm betting that you at least know "Kayleigh"; it's a song that is rather ubiquitous.
