I have just one thing to say at this point: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.
At this point, I'd like to take the firewall and shove it sideways up the support desk's collective arsehole.
I'm not sure which vexes me more. The fact that it's not working properly, the fact that this is probably caused by some spammer trying to use our server for things it shouldn't be used for or the fact that once again, no-one is phoning me back. They can't ALL be away from their desk!
I'm waiting on for another half hour, to see if the boss phones (from America!) to see what she wants to do [I've now got some solutions but I don't know that any of them are terribly practical for us]. Then I'm going home via the McDonalds drivethru. It's contrary to my diet, I know, but after today - this week so far - I think I've deserved it.
Sorted may take some work, but things seem to be calmer. There's only 1500 emails stuck in the firewall today...though I *DID* call tech support at 5am this morning to get them to reboot the server...
I did; thanks :) Though I did come home via McDonalds (I figured a small treat was merited, and I couldn't do what I *REALLY* wanted to do, which was go out for chinese at lunch time!)
The good news is, I have a solution to the overall problems. The bad news is, I need to try and run it by the boss - who's on vacation in the US atm (she's in Nevadaish, so I thnk that's PST - why, oh WHY couldn't she be in Vermont this year?!!) which means me potentially sitting up to odd and random hours.
