Sooooo... Nano
Nov. 18th, 2005 06:15 pmWhen write off virtually two weeks of your given time period you do, succeed with the project, you won't.
Or, to put it into English (rather than pseudo Yoda): Unless I have a miraculous weekend this weekend (and let it go on record that I have, in the past written upwards of 20,000 words in a weekend), there isn't a hope in all heck of me getting Nano done to time.
I currently stand at 2000 words, or there abouts (erring on the side of under rather than over). If I can have one of those aforementioned miracle weekends, I can probably jump that to somewhere near 30,000 and more or less get myself back on track. If not...well, the story will be written, but it'll be done a heck of a lot slower!
In other news, I'm still periodically hacking up the proverbial lung and still very, very tired, but most of the other symptoms have gone, so I am on the mend. Seeing as I can't currently get up a flight of stairs without wheezing like a badly maintained steam engine, I'm not umpiring on the morrow.
Unfortunately, I am still down to umpire a week tomorrow - which means, almost certainly, me NOT being able to go to Oxford for the Gather there. As it's almost certainly going to be the last match I umpire, I don't really want to cancel it, particularly having cancelled for this particular team twice already. So I shall have to settle for the Christmas party gather instead.

Date: 2005-11-18 08:29 pm (UTC)I'm not, quite, ready to throw in the towel yet. I still think that I can catch myself up - and I HATE to fail at projects I've set myself...so we'll see.

Date: 2005-11-18 10:29 pm (UTC)And there's this perverse streak in me that says I won't have given the timescale up at the end of the weekend...
I must want my head read.

Date: 2005-11-22 08:04 pm (UTC)To the point where I've just called off the umpiring this weekend.
Which means, if I can start sounding even a wee bit more healthy (and assuming that we're not all shivering under 2 foot of snow!), Oxford may be back on.
So every cloud has some semblance of a silver lining. Somewhere.
