My boss is a spoil sport.

She wouldn't let me write an error message that said: Not a valid date you plank.

Still say people who put in the 31st February deserve to be insulted.

I actually got an error message once that said, "Somebody stop me!" It seems one of the programers was having a bit of fun and forgot to change it before the system went into production. I thought it was fantastic! Error messaged should be fun. It helps take the frustration away. ;)

I agree completely - trouble is, I have a rather...unique sense of humour and my boss generally checks my error messages to make sure they're OK before things go live.
