You know you're taking things way too seriously when you realise you've just drawn a family tree for a completely fictional family.

On the upside, I *think* I've satisfied most of the requirements for the Lambert family without resorting to anything that looks remotely incestuous OR rediculously convoluted. I have to admit, I more or less ignored any references to Tommy being a step-brother (partly because I just can't see a way to actually make that work, either taking the conventional or the EBD definition of 'step' siblings), which is hopefully NOT too much of an issue...I did at least manage to straighten out who the heck Tom Scudamore was!

(And yes, I realise that this post makes no sense to anyone who hasn't read a particular CS book - in the original form rather than the paperback edition)

(No, I'm NOT going to explain it any further!)

Are you going to share it with us? I've never quite managed to get my head round that particular family's relationships with each other! And who the heck is Tom Scudamore? :)

I probably will do - but after NaNoWriMo's done. And believe me, I know the feeling. I must have spent two or three hours this evening trying to nail it into place. *mutters imprecations about EBD and her contradictory descriptions*

Tom Scudamore is the owner of the plantation in China. He only gets mentioned in the hardback of Gay from China - the whole China plotline is excised from the paperback.

Oh I've got the HB - I just couldn't remember the reference! In fact, I think Gay was the third HB I bought and it's much better than the pb. *mutters about incompetent Armada editors, even if one of them was EBD* :)

*chuckles* Actually, as editing goes, Gay's not the worst off. At least what they did there was remove the China references - which, as I'm discovering, are more than somewhat inaccurate, and related to a book that didn't exist - and trimmed out some of the descrptions. Nothing major in terms of the actual plot. Unlike, say, Head Girl!

That is true - Head Girl was one of my least favourite books, until I read the HB! *mutters some more* :)

Yep - with a very large stick I beat him into submission...I've ended up with his being Gay's father's brother's brother-in-law. If that makes ANY sense...

And thank you :)

Which? Writing family trees for the Lambert family or for fictional families in general?

I think it might actually be kind of comforting - I'm not the only crazy one on the block ;)

Fictional families in general. I think I'm too scared to try the Lamberts. That of the Hillis/O'Hara/Carrick clan was quite bad enough!

Ooh. Ouch! Yes, I should imagine that was rather on the ticklish side.

And you're very, VERY sensible to ignore the Lambert family. Put it this way; my family tree's ended up looking like lunatic spaghetti. And that's ignoring the potential half-sibling/step-sibling issue!

*lol* Well, I did have to sort out a nice EBDism for Peace, which I'm happy I've done, but it is a nasty tree. *offers a fork for the spaghetti* ;-)
