That Happy Post I Mentioned...
Sep. 9th, 2005 08:36 amWell, on the car front, I have a brand spanking new wing mirror installed (Ford managed to install it inside of three hours yesterday morning, which was mucho impressive and did mean I had my car back before lunch so I could go to Tesco) and woe betide ANYONE who touches that mirror in the near future... (I do have to admit I'm tempted to put a sticker on it saying "Warning, this car is charged at 30,000 volts", but I suspect that's just tempting people to touch it and see.)
So. On to happier things. First at foremost, I'm getting to indulge my destructive tendancies this weekend by going to visit
weird_bird and taking a sledge hammer to her gnome home foundations and crazy paving *grin* I'm also coming armed with a crowbar, three chisels, two pick-axes and a lump hammer [sledge hammer with a short handle], oh, and some industrial gloves, two hard hats and a courgette that could just about be used as a lethal weapon. Never say I am unprepared for anything!
And from that to my writing - and as this is going to get a little lengthy
Shadow Games
For the new readers here, this is my first completed novel. I've been submitting it over the summer, but so far with no luck (though I did get my first actual rejection slip this week, so that's progress, at least!). As soon as I have more news, I'll pass it on.
Francie
The plan for this is that the story's going to cover 'Triplets', 'Reunion', 'Jane' and 'Redheads' (which I'm proposing to actually all-but rewrite - there's a project for you!), plus the Christmas and Summer holidays. I'm NOT going to write this as one story, though. So my current aim is to get the first installment (which is the one that's underway on the CBB) finished, and to that end, here's the schedule I'm hoping to keep to:
9th September - Chapter 11
16th September - Chapter 12
23rd September - Chapter 13
30th September - Chapter 14
7th October - Chapter 15 (which SHOULD, barring unexpected surprises, be the final chapter!)
I'll probably then take a bit of a break with it so that I can have the Christmas story posted vaguely seasonally!
Dreams of the Sun
Once I've got Francie finished, I'm planning on picking this up once more. I'll start out, as I did with Francie, by doing a rewrite/repost thing and try to pull it together properly. I've got no particular timescale in mind for this, though :)
Five by Five
I am about five scenes from being done on this, though what I've got so far is going to need quite a bit of work before it's postable. My hope here is to try and get this finished before the end of the year, which I know is rather unspecific.
Soaring Eagle
This is STILL progressing at a snail's pace, but I do know where it's going. Again. I hope to have it finished before the end of the year.
I strongly suspect that these two will be my final Identiverse fanfics posted to ff.net. Whether they will be my last EVER PRTF/Identiverse fanfics is a bit more moot. I do have some ideas for more/other/different stuff (including a complete revamp/rewrite of some ID'verse fics), but before I begin any of that, I will be looking for a new home. As much as I've liked ff.net and as long as I've been a member there, the sheer amount of hassle that's required to post now is incredibly off-putting. Also, don't expect ANY of this to happen before Christmas - my first priority is tying off loose ends :)
Isard's Grip
This is progressing quite nicely at the moment - at least from an inspiration point of view! I don't know how well it's going from having folks in (or believably out of) character, but at the moment, I'm not too worried. I'm also not too sure how long it's going to be at the moment. I've got a rough timeline for the story, but that'll probably alter as I fill out the details. All I can say is watch this space. Also: If you're reading this and you know of a good place to post Star Wars/Rogue Squadron fanfics for archiving purposes, please give me a shout - ff.net's out for reasons of hassle, plus I have no wish to completely and utterly vanish beneath the welter of "Anakin didn't turn evil!" badficcery which seems to be about all that gets posted there these days!
Angel One
This is original fiction. It's going to be a novel-length fantasy story. I'm currently in the world building and planning stages at the moment, though I do have the majority of the first chapter sketched out on paper. I have no timescale for this, as yet. Working title.
The Freak
This is original fiction. It's a teen-romance/high school story - possibly it's going to be another novel-length story, but that's not certain as yet. I did have this all planned out and ready to go...and then I changed my mind on one of the plot points, so I'm currently re-plotting this one. I suspect this is going to be my next big project, once I get the nits sorted out! Working title.
Hidden Lies
This is the sequel to Shadow Games. It's going to be another thriller, but I'm still firming up exactly what my plot is going to be, where it's going to take place and who's going to be involved. I *did* have a section taking place in the UK, but then that particular segment of plot became uncomfortably topical, necessitating a replot, which I'm still working on. Until I know Shadow Games' future, though, this one is a little on the back-burner.
Untitled CS Short Story for Liss' Short Story Collection
This isn't a WIP, it's more "something I'd like to do", but it's predicated by me getting a decent idea for a plot, and so far, I'm drawing a blank. (The one plot I did come up with is probably too long!)
Phew. I think that covers everything! Off to finish off today's promised installment of Francie :)
