Well, today I have had my first session in the gym - and having worked hard for half an hour (plus a ten/fifteen minute swim) I actually don't feel too bad. The aim is to go every other day, and I have a review set up for eight weeks time, so we'll see how I do. (I also promise that I'm not going to turn into a gym bore...I hope, anyway!)

On the writing front, I haven't been doing much recently, largely because my brain is not so slowly rotting at the moment. There is and should be a happy medium at work, but we're currently failing to hit it. Either we have way too much work to do or none whatsoever. We're currently in the latter state and at one stage this afternoon, I was giving serious consideration to going to sleep, I was that dang bored. I have had various stories with me - I've just been so lathargic I haven't touched 'em. I will try to do better. If nothing else, I would like to try and get the first book of my Francie story finished before Christmas!

On the such front...actually, there is no such front. I was going to say something about what's happened in the South of the USA, but really? I'm not qualified. It's a disaster and that's all there is to it. Though, what worries me, is with the fuss everyone's making over New Orleans (and it is a mess right now, I know), the affected folks in Alabma, Mississippi and elsewhere in Louisiana will get overlooked.

my god, your work ethic never ceases to amaze me :)

On the hurricane front, worry not about not-New Orleans and not-Biloxi. I mean, yes, worry, but not that they won't get help. Help is already there for most places, it's just that NO and B are a) major urban centers with a huge poor and indigent population and b) still so devastated that aid workers can't really get into the cities. There's a lot of focus on those places right now, but a lot of aid is actually going elsewhere, just because that's where it can go.

I have a work ethic?! Where?!! *grin* I'm actually as lazy as the next person, it's just from time to time (like when I realise that hey, I can't get into my spare pair of work pants any more) I get ubermotivated. It'll probably wear off again...

*nods* I know that the federal aid and whatnot will go (and probably is going) to the right folks, it's just the way it's being emphasised in the media that worries me. Maybe it's not quite so imbalanced actually in the US, but here it's like " " sort of reaction.

In the beginning, it was fairly even-handed, but as the other places start to clear up it's becoming more and more NOLA-centered. And part of that is because it's NEW ORLEANS and it's special to us, and part of it's cos there's still people up on roofs that can't be reached. And it gets a little worse every day. Fires, now.

Well done for getting to the gym! Hope you aren't feeling too sore from it today.

Fancy coming and helping out with some of my work - we go through feast & famine cycles too and I am definitely being overfed at the moment ;)

I'm actually surprisingly non-stiff this morning - the only real twinge is in my right shoulder, and that was something I buggered up in my sleep yesterday!

I'd say yes - but then I'd want to beat clients of the clueless variety around the head, repeatedly, with a blunt spoon...which, although it would be satisfying, probably wouldn't help matters!
