1) If thou desirest to overtake another vehicle, thou must travel at a greater speed than the vehicle you are attempting to overtake.
2) Thou shalt use thine indicators.
2a) Thou shalt not indicate that thou art pulling right when thou art sitting in the outside lane already.
3) Thou shalt not act surprised and or angry when thine high performance sports car is overtaken by a small hatchback. Thou wast the one daydreaming in the middle lane.
4) Thou shalt pay attenting to thine rear view mirrors and pull in on the occasion of being in either outside or middle lane with a faster moving car immediately behind you.
5) When in the outside lane, though shalt not do 65mph when the limit is 70mph. Get thee to the inside lane at once and cease being a mobile roadblock.

(Why yes, I did have a trying drive to Stains this morning - what gave it away? *grin* Apart from the drive [and the obligatory wrong turn I took on that big roundabout again - I swear, I DO know where I'm going now, I just get easily confused!], though, I had a fabby time and it was good to see everyone again :))

You mean the inside lane is the slow lane in England? Wild.

(That's the fast lane here. I'd think that would be constant--slower moving cars closer to the places where people are turning from. Go figure)

Probably an American tourist who thought they were in the right place to go slow!

Don't forget, we've got things flipped here. (That said, I think I've buggered up my terminology). And yes, our slow lane is where you turn from. Then again, I've been on American freeways (mostly around LA) where you come on and come off from the fast lane, too.

Well, in Oz we have the fast lane on the inside, too, and we drive on the same side as the British! Best of both worlds really...

Maybe I'm confused.

Yes, but the outside lane would still be the left lane, wouldn't it?

Same as the last drive to Staines then?

We didn't get lost. The directions lied. Really.

*laughs* Not QUITE the same as the last trip - I knew which exit I wanted...I just ended up in the wrong lane and forced off at the second wrong turn. Ooops. (Let's just not mention the 6 mile detour via the M40 to get onto the M25, though...)
