It Still Hasn't Sunk In...
Aug. 8th, 2005 10:24 amYesterday was an incredible day if you happen to have been a cricket supporter. For Australian supporters, it was the bitter feeling of so near yet so far - a feeling that English cricket supporters can sympathise with all too readily. For England supporters, it was the elation of having finally proved to everyone that not only can we compete with Australia, we can beat them, too. As for the neutrals in the crowd, yesterday was as fine an end to a test match as you could wish to have. A great contest between bat and ball.
For me, though, I think the overiding image from yesterday is not of the England team celebrating, but of Andy Flintoff going straight to Brett Lee to comiserate. It was a gesture of sportsmanship that's been somewhat absent from Ashes cricket in the last 15 years or so. Here's hoping that can continue.
And we have to do it all over again on Thursday, when the next test begins...

It was amazing though - not sure I can cope with another weekend like that though...
