I Should Have Known Better...
Jul. 20th, 2005 09:08 pmI think my good sense has rotted today: I dared brave the horror that is the Harry Potter section on ff.net. Worse, I went there in the hopes of finding some interesting Snapefics. (I admit: I'm a Snape fangrrl - he's easily the most interesting of the characters, to my way of thinking.)
I really, really, REALLY should have known better.
I opened one (entitled "How The Mighty Fall"), thinking that it showed reasonable promise. The title was spelt correctly and the summary was also correct AND intreaguing. And then it went very rapidly down hill from there. In the first paragraph:
"...as he [Harry] said this, he glanced at the white tome."
And then in the second paragraph:
"...but Ginny Potter would not be swade."
I SO wish I was making that last one up. I mean, really. The mental image of Harry sighing over a white coloured book is amusing, but at least that's a real word! I couldn't spell when I was 11 - but even THEN I'd have known that swade is not a real word.

Date: 2005-07-21 02:20 am (UTC)There are also those that like writing sentences like, "Were did I walk? I walked over their," or something along those lines. *shudders again* Ooh, I feel like ranting a bit now ;-) Or maybe that was a small rant. . .
