Why does it have to be Monday tomorrow?
Jun. 19th, 2005 11:10 pmI've spent a lot of today tidying.
My desk nolonger looks like a bomb's hit it. My bedroom, on the other hand, has sprouted another two piles of paperwork that I've got to go through and file, but meh - it's not on my bed so it's not an immediate problem!
Meanwhile, the reason (besides making the place look a little better) for this burst of tidiness was twofold. First, my monitor has been dying over the past five weeks (seriously, if killing monitors was an Olympic sport, I'd win Gold for Great Britain every time - I've gone through EIGHT monitors between home and work in the last six years). Yesterday it developed a rather highpitched whine. This was the last straw. So today, out to PC world and I am now the proud owner of a flatscreen monitor. Also while I was there I bought a replacement printer/scanner/copier seeing as my old HP 610's on its last legs and my Lexmark is crapper than...well something very crap* So they both needed to be installed, plugged in and tested.
And I'm trying to do all this during the hottest part of the day.
I'm an idiot.
Still. It's all done now and I've actually developed a whole bunch of extra desk space.
I've now got to try and get some sleep in a bedroom that's second cousin to hell right now. Why can't tomorrow be a day off?
* I was going to make a gratuitous cricket reference here, but I decided against it. Losing to Somerset and Bangladesh in the same week is probably sufficient suffering for ANY bunch of people!
