Well. I knew it.

Stearing is fixed - at a cost of £56. The cat, though? Will be £125 upwards.

Yep. New car time.

And looking at my finances, I think I can also kiss goodbye to any iminant trips *anywhere*...

*hugs* shame you had to pay for the steering to be fixed first. Someone at work is selling a car, although I'm hazy on what etc. Would you like me to get details for you?

*hugs back* It is a shame; on the other hand, I really struggle in terms of getting to and from work without my car, so I had to have something driveable and in the state it was on Thursday evening, it certainly wasn't that!

Thanks for the offer, but I live just round the corner from a Ford's main dealer and rather than risk a repeat performance with a private sale, I'm going there. (Which is not to say that your colleague's selling a car that's in as bad a condition as mine is! Just that I've had my fingers rather seriously burned in private sales *grin*)

I quite understand that. Hope you can find something luffly and reliable at the dealership. Have fun testdriving some cars just for the sake of it ;)

Certainly does. Still; off to the Ford Main Dealer in an hour or so, so we shall see what we can do...

When I first read this, I thought one of your cats had been taken ill, far beyond mouse parts and fur balls. In the grand scheme of things, cars are much less important, though they do appear to make life easier. (Hmmm, LJ does not seem to have smileys.)

I trust that car troubles won't impact critical activities such as Gather attendance....

Fortunately, no - just the car. On the other hand, as I work on the otherside of Bristol in a place where I can't actually get a direct bus (I have to go into Bristol's city centre and then out again which takes over an hour and costs nearly £4!), not having a functional car's almost as much of a nightmare as trying to take a cat to the vet...

Hopefully, provided Ford (or perhaps Peugeot) have something for me this morning, I should be safe to attended Gathers...

Much sympathy!

I regret to report that Indianapolis has a similar bus system, in which all buses go downtown, and going anywhere except downtown takes well over an hour. Actually, since IndyGo has now abandoned me and my neighborhood, the walk to the bus makes it an hour just to go downtown. If I could drive, I suspect I would abandon public transport forever....

Best of luck with the car shopping!
