1) Total number of books you own: Egads. I have no idea. Lots. Probably in the range of 200.
2) The last book you bought: Hm. That would actually be Revenge of the Sith (which I bought in NYC).
3) The last book you read: I finished Revenge of the Sith, Solo Command AND A Leader in the Chalet School last night.
4) Five books, or series of books that you couldn't bear to part with:
a) The Chalet School series by Elinor M Brent Dyer - I had virtually all the books in paperback. I sold them. I regretted it immensely. I'm recollecting them.
b) Redwall by Brian Jacques - I got into this series at the same time I got into CS, but unlike CS I've never dreamed of getting rid of the books. My actual copies of the original three books (Redwall, Mattemeo and Mossflower) have been read so many times that they're actually falling to bits and I'm giving serious consideration to replacing them!
c) Karate Techniques and Tactics - It's been an invaluable reference guide for my writing as it gives clear descriptions of the various different throws, holds and kicks.
d) The Art of War by Sun Tzu - It's a very interesting book full of strategy and concepts. Very absorbing.
e) Star Wars: Rogue Squadron - Out of all the SW novels, I think the Rogue Squadron ones are arguably the best. They have action, they have drama, they have tension, they have angst, they have humour and they even have the odd bit of romance thrown in. They're also very easy to read. And reread. And rereread. And...you get the idea.
5) Which six people are you passing the baton onto? And why?
ganeris Because I know she's got some interesting books on her shelves.
cmar_wingnut Ditto
pim2005 Because you can't revise all the time
nellikins Just because ;)
weirdweb Because I think she'll have some interesting books on her shelves
kahva Because I get to hear about her cat knocking books off, I'd be interested to know which mean more to her! :)
