...complete and utter bastards.

I'll beg forgiveness now for the language - I am more than somewhat hopping mad right about now.

My car (the one that I have already had to spend £200 on this month) has been broken into. They have jemmied back the top of the front passenger door, reached in, unlocked the door, spread the contents of the glove compartment across my passenger seat and ultimately? They stole a packet of Mr Clean Spring Fresh wipes.

Yes. That is ALL they have taken. The radio is still in situ, all the tapes (so far as I can see) are present and correct, the steering column is fine (so they didn't try to go for a joyride with it)...they just stole the cleaning wipes.

What. The. FUCK. Is. Wrong. With. These. People?

I have to take the car down to the police station this afternoon (oh joy) to get it checked over and then I get to find out how the hell much it's going to cost me to have my door repaired (I have a two inch gap at the top of my front passenger door, where they've bent the door away from the frame).

The police, when I called, offered me victim support.

I catch up to the culprets of this, THEY are going to be the ones in need of support.

The offer of the nuclear warhead to bash these idiots with still stands.

Then you could REALLY hurt them by letting me force them to watch ALL of the Boohbah episodes. {evil grin}

Enforced Boobah watching seems like a fitting punishment... Though I'm sure it's contrary to the Geneva Convention!

Your language is perfectly justified - I can't believe some people!!!!!

(((Hugs))) - hope it isn't too expensive.

Thanks *hugs back*

Knowing my luck, the cost will probably be just about the same amount as my insurance excess, rendering it pointless to claim on insurance for the cost.

*hugs back* Thanks

At various times over the last ten years, both of my parents have had their door locks jemmied and my dad's had his steering completely screwed up by would-be car theives - regretably, we live close to three big council estates and there are plenty of kids on said estates who really don't have anything better to do.

*many hugs* I could make a joke about them needing to clean up a spill really badly - but this isn't a joking situation. Beyond the damage and expense, the invasion of personal property - and space - is a horrible feeling. *hugs again*

*hugs back* Thanks.

The only reason I can think for them taking the wipes is because they used them to wipe down for finger prints...except that there are several prints on the edge of the glove box lid (black plastic is great for spotting that sort of thing). It just makes no sense.

I swear, I catch up to them, they will wish they'd never been born. Of course, chances of them BEING caught are so remote as to not be worth mentioning. *sigh*

*stares*

Not only are these evil bastards, they're stupid evil bastards. I mean, it's good that they didn't steal anything more, but... who the hell messes up someone's car for a pack of cleaning wipes??

I can offer you a variety of blunt objects that I have at my disposal. I think someone needs to be Darwined, stat.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of kids who don't have anything better to do with their time and who think this sort of thing is funny.

On the other hand, I find the idea of finding them and beating them over the head, repeatedly, with my cricket bat is equally funny. Doubt THEY would think so, though... *evil grin*

Clear the car out, and in future leave an (empty) glove box open, so they can see clearly there's nothing in there worth nicking. That happened to a friend's car, and they stole 37p. Left the radio and CDs and took his loose change!

I shouldn't HAVE to do that. I shouldn't have to have my life dictated by a small minority of idiots.

No, you right - you shouldn't. But unfortunately, if you know you're a target (which most cities are) then you need to make adjustments for it. Life, to coin a phrase, is a bitch like that.

Also: The police have already (and rather smarmily) told me to leave the glove box open and empty in the future. But honestly, what's next? Leaving your boot open to prove there's nothing in there, too? Should I leave the whole car unlocked just to prevent people from jemmying the door next time? It's the most rediculous and stupid piece of 'crime prevention' advice out there.

That's crap, and not a good way to start your day. Unfortunately, as you say, there sadly are kids around who have nothing better to do with their time (if you were in Liverpool I'd probably be able to find out who did by asking the kids I teach, as they're more of the same.) I like the idea of blunt weapons and steel-capped boots though - I hope somebody catches them.

I know this isn't funny. And yet... At least, having read your later post as to having the door fixed and going "bwuh?" I at least know that you're alright your car is mostly fine, and UK cops are as patronising as US ones. *hugs*

Clean wipes.

This will be funny in a couple of months, I promise.
