Well, in a fit of boredom (I'm supposed to be writing an email system)...

These have a wintery/holidays theme.

ETA: NB Many of these songs have different versions by different artists, so I'm not so much looking for the artist as the song :)

1) He asked ol' Santa what peace on earth was

2) I remember when you were here/And all the fun we had last year

3) What do you tell your daddy/When you see mamma kissing Santa Claus?

4) Once bitten and twice shy/I keep my distance/But you still catch my eye

5) I don't want a lot for Christmas

6) Welcome to my Christmas song

7) Twas light years ago since his mission did start

8) Till I believed in the Israelite

9) So this is Christmas

10) Rousing up a mighty monster from his sleep

11) The choir of children sing their song

12) Don't lock your doors because that sweet Santa Claus is on his way

13) "You girls and boys won't get any toys if you don't pull me out"

14) Well I ain’t like old Saint Nick, he don’t come but once a year

15) Snow is falling/All around

16) With logs on the fire and gifts on the tree

17) Bells will be ringing/The glad, glad news

18) Top to toe in tailbacks

19) In the lane snow is glistening

20) At Christmas time/We let in light and we banish shade

21) With a corncob pipe and a button nose

22) Yeah I kind of missed 'em, I just don't wanna kiss 'em, no

23) Without you/I've got no place, no place to go

24) Without each other's help there ain't no hope for us

25) Venite, venite in Bethlehem

3) I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - written by Thomas P. Connor
4) Last Christmas - Wham (my favortite)
20) Do They Know It's Christmas - no idea who sung that

3) Nope - guess again
4) Yep
20) That particular line was sung by Paul Young (irrc). The whole thing was sung by (*deep breath*) Boy George, Paul Young, George Michael, Simon Le Bon, Bono, Sting, Bananarama, Status Quo, Bob Geldorf, Phil Collins...it's a who's who of early 80s British pop and rock music. They were collectively known as Bandaid.

21 is Frosty the Snowman. (Yes I know the one song that only has to do with Christmas 'cause it's about snow :)

*chuckles* No worries - I tossed it in there because at least one of the others is a really, really, REALLY obscure song *grin*

8. Israelites, Desmond Dekker (Huh? Christmassy?)
9. Merry Xmas, War is Over; John Lennon (don't remember whether it's with Yoko Ono or not)
16. Christmas Time; Cliff Richard
19. Winter Wonderland (various; I'm thinking Andy Williams)
25. Adeste Fideles (various; my version is Bing Crosby :-P)

And 1 ... wasn't that by Greg Lake (from Emerson, Lake and Palmer)? Exact title escapes me right now ...

I feel I SHOULD know 15; I can even sing it, but ... grrr.

8) Nope!
9) Yes it is with Yoko Ono :)
16) Or I'd have accepted Mistletoe and Wine - since I'm not sure which was the actual title!
19) Any version will do on that one :)
25) Yuppers :)

*giggles* Nope - 1 is DEFINITELY not Greg Lake (though his song does feature on the list somewhere ;))

And yep 15 is very singable *grin*

The title is, I believe, "It's Christmas Time" ...

Now I've got to dig out my Xmas CDs ... gonna need them for Friday night, anyway ...

*giggles hysterically*

*pictures the extremely slender female singer as a hippo*

*giggles even harder*

Safe to say that's a no!

Actually, I was thinking of the U2 version (*makes note to track the Springsteen version down*), but you're absolutely right with the song :)

1.) I Wish Everyday Could Be Like Christmas - Bon Jovi

2.) Christmas/Baby Please Come Home - U2, since they're the ones I almost always hear on the radio singing it

4.) Last Christmas - Wham! I've got the album and the video still

5.) All I Want For Christmas Is You - can't think of who sings it - Vanessa Williams? I know that the girl sings it in the last part of Love Actually

6.) {growls} I can hear the guy singing that line, and "Merry Merry Christmas", but I can't think of the title or the artist to save my life! But now I'll have that tune chasing me to bed!

9.)So This Is Christmas/War Is Over - John Lennon, and I can't remember if Yoko was on this one or not. Just this past weekend I heard somebody's remake of it, they sounded like Adam Sandler trying to sound like an actual singer. {shivers}

19.) Winter Wonderland - no particular singer comes to mind for this one, I've heard a couple of different folks sing it

17.) Please Come Home For Christmas - Jon Bon Jovi!!

20.) Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid. I've not heard the new version, but I've got the original single, and the video on tape somewhere around here... I can remember playing "Spot the Duran Duran members!" on the video, and wondering just who the heck this Bono person was, but knowing his voice sounded familiar for some reason.

21.) Frosty The Snowman - I always hear the version from the cartoon when I think about this one, I simply just can't hear any other version in my head.

How'd I do? :)

1) Yep
5) Yep - I think there's been umpteen versions of it. The version I know is by Mariah Carey.
6) *snickering* No points, but an amusing mental image ;)
17) Yep

There's one other on there that I'm a little surprised you didn't get...*insert evil laughter here*

5.) Thank you! Now that you've said her name, that's the voice I keep hearing in my head! Thank you! :)

And as for the one I "didn't" get, how's this? :)

14.) Back Door Santa - I've heard the original of this, but the one I always think of is Bon Jovi's version, which I like a LOT better. :)

Triva on BJ's version of Back Door Santa... you know you've got the original version of the first A Very Special Christmas cd if it's got BJ's version of Back Door Santa on it. When they put the cd out again, BDS was replaced by BJ's I Wish Everyday Could Be Like Christmas. Keep in mind I'm talking about the US version only. :)

6.) Step Into Christmas - Elton John
