Updates and Answers...
Dec. 13th, 2004 08:33 amWell. That was the weekend that was. I got my history essay done (I also now know many random and completely useless facts about the Colosseum, gladiators and Roman society), I became loathed by the entire WLHC III team (again - so no change there, then!), I've FINALLY got a Christmas present for the bother, I've got a short piece to post on the CBB, my Christmas fic is shaping up nicely...all things considered, it's been a pretty successful weekend.
OK, I don't think anyone's going to get any more of my lyrics and I know there's at least one person dying of curiosity about one of them, so, here's the answers...
1) Two men say they're Jesus/One of them must be wrong
Dire Straits - Industrial Disease - not your normal Dire Straits song, but an amusing one.
2) One night you play Elizabeth Taylor/The next is Marilyn Monroe
Marillion - Lady Nina - I wasn't entirely surprised no-one got this one; it's an interesting song, though, and a bit more 'aware' than some brands of rock music.
3) Gina dreams of running away/She cries in the night
Bon Jovi - Livin' On a Prayer - It's difficult to select a lyric from this song that isn't going to give it away to virtually everyone over a certain age...
4) You got your hotpants on/You got your arse right out
Amy Studt - Misfit - another one I'm not surprised no-one got; it's a fun song but I've now had it on the brain five days straight!
5) There's dust in my eyes/That blinds my sight
Pink Floyd - Sorrow - probably my favourite Pink Floyd track
6) I will love you/When the moon is riding high
Deacon Blue - Cover From The Sky - I am surprised no-one got this. If you don't know it, go find an MP3 of it; it's a beautiful song!
7) And there I stood/Just like a soldier
Bon Jovi - Edge of a Broken Heart - One of my favourite non-album Bon Jovi tracks, I was a little surprised someone got this.
8) Did you ever feel like you needed shelter?
Bon Jovi - Save a Prayer - And another! (I've mentioned I'm a Jovi fangrrl, yes?) This was the track that got me hooked...
9) Carnival! The wheels fly and the colours spin
U2 - Unforgettable Fire - I am REALLY surprised no-one on my flist got this (seeing as I know there's at least one U2 fan on there)
10) De landlord say your rent is late/He may have to litigate!
Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy - If you ever want to annoy my father, start whistling this in his hearing, he hates it!
11) A close encounter with a hard-hearted man/Who never gave half of what he got
Mental As Anything - Live it Up - My theme song. I'm also not terribly surprised no-one got it, it is a fairly obscure 80s song.
12) Hey! What's this feeling?
Richie Sambora - Chained - Again, I'm surprised no-one on my flist got this.
13) Miss a beat/Lose the rhythm
Van Halen - Right Now - love this song, love the video for it, too.
14) I walk the maze of moments
Enya - Anywhere Is - No Enya fans out there?
15) When you make love/Do you look in the mirror?
Def Leppard - Love Bites - This is how a rock ballad should go (at least imho!)
16) So you think you can love me and spit in my eye?
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody - I have to own up that I've actually done the Garth thing of headbanging to this while driving and nearly displacing my glasses... Does that make me sad?
17) You'll find it next week/Lying out on the lawn!
Cats - Mr. Mistopholes - The version I know is by Paul Nicholas and this particular line is the second half of one of my favourite rhymes...
18) Je tu desire/The time has come*
Enigma - Mea Culpa - Another favourite track.
19) I feel it in my fingers/I feel it in my toes
Wet Wet Wet - Love Is All Around - I actually HATE this song. I don't know why I have an MP3 of it, but there you go...
20) What's the time?/Seems it's already morning
Roxette - Spending My Time - I really love the live version Roxette do of this, just Marie and the piano...great stuff :)
21) When leaves have fallen and skies turn to grey/The night keeps on closing in on the day
Within Temptation - Ice Queen - I was introduced to these by
freespirit127. They're a little like Evanescence, though marginally more cheerful!
22) Air sgiath a' seoladh nan neoil**
Runrig - Alba - I would have found another track rather than one purely in Gaelic, but I was running out of both time and tracks (seeing as Yoda and the Force has no lyrics...!)
23) How will you do it, might I enquire to ask?/I will do it with my spear and magic helmet!
Buggs Bunny & Elma Fudd - What's Opera Doc - yes, I have this on MP3, and yes, I really do listen to it on a random but not infrequent basis...
24) Well he's a liar and I'm not sure about you
Kirsty McColl - There's a Guy Works Down The Chipshop Swears He's Elvis - In the guiness book of records for the longest song title, I'm surprised no-one got this.
25) Well I saw Roxy on the table/Her girlfriend down below
Bon Jovi - Let it Rock - Yep, this is the fourth BJ track. It was out of a possible six on that particular set ;)
Any you're kicking yourself over?
