Didn't sleep phenominally well last night, so between that, the early start and the exercise, I now feel rather on the dead side. And, annoyingly, I can't just go straight home after work, I've got to go out to The Link and get my father's mobile phone fixed. (No, don't ask why *I* have to get *HIS* phone fixed; that's a whole rant in and of itself.)

On the writing front, I've so far managed none of what I aimed to do this week, but I *HAVE* succeeded in writing a short story I was planning for a few weeks' time! Well, written barring a sparring match, which, when I tried to write it, I realised that up until now, all the fight scenes I've ever written have either had two super-powered individuals doing the fighting, or it's been male vs male. This wouldn't be a problem, except that the sparring match in this particular story is going to be very much smaller woman against larger man.

Hm.

Think that's going to call for a little more thought - to say nothing of a spot of research!

*hugs*
*sends chocolate to help you wake up*

I hope your research isn't going to be the practical sort involving you and some 6ft6 muscle-bound male ...

Thank you :)

That kind of research might actually be fun (if only cos it would mean I knew one of those who was willing to help me out!) - but no; it involves me rewatching a couple of dodgy movies.

Now trying to think of a movie that involves a small woman fighting a large man - there's Jamie Lee Curtis and Arnie in True Lies of course, but that's not much of a fight, she just grabs a lamp and brains him with it *g*

*laugh* Not so much use for a sparring match.

The movie (or the main one at least) that I have in mind is US Seals II, which has a former Buffy stuntwoman (so not the world's biggest person) taking on someone who's 6' some odd. The only slight issue with that is, she loses...

There's a few other bits and pieces I have, though, that'll help too. It's just a matter of me looking and seeing what moves will actually work and what really won't!

Well I think coshing someone over the head with something heavy sounds a fairly successful tactic! Is it thumping each other around fighting or martial arts moves?

Coshing someone is great if you want to knock them out. As a method to practice your martial arts skills, however, it's pretty lousy ;)

And yes, tis a martial arts sparring session. No-one's trying to kill each other *grin*

There's a girl/woman completely covered in black, so nobody realises she's female who's a martial arts whizz in one of the Lethal Weapon Films, if that's any help - trying now to remember if it's 3 or 4, and think it's 4

Thank you :)

I was planning to do the research over the weekend - but not being thrown to the mercy of my small neighbourhood Blockbuster is very appealing, so: YES PLEASE!!!!!!! :) And also: THANK YOU!!!!!!! :)
