Year In Review...
Dec. 26th, 2004 12:11 pmWell! Here we are. December 26th, and this journal is now a year old. Yeppers; I've managed to keep this up, and up-to-date for a year. Go me.
It's been quite a busy year, one way or another. I've travelled (Fenny Compton, Manchester, Devon, Fenny Compton, Philadelphia), I've met new people, caught up with others who I've not spoken to in a while and made some new online friends too (*waves to everyone*).
On the personal front, I've finally taken the decision to go back to school - and I'm currently in the process of taking a course from the Open University. Where that's going to lead, I don't know, but it's bound to be a challenge.
On the writing front:
ganeris and I completed the fourth part of the Far Future series back in January (seems a very long time ago, now!) and I made a start on part five...which is STILL not finished. I DID finally complete Fire and Ice (my contribution to shipperfics); I contributed several short stories to the ever enlarging Identiverse; I wrote the "Brothers" series; I drabbled on the CBB too, though I'm slightly ashamed to admit I haven't actually *finished* a full length drabble on there this year... And then there's the small matter of starting to write a novel in the middle of March. The first draft was completed by the end of July; the second draft is...well...still being worked on. Mostly.
So what do I hope for in the new year? I think first on the list is the time, energy and effort to pull the second draft of Shadow Games together, ideally before the end of January with the idea of being able to start submitting it for publication sometime around March. Behind that, getting some of my WIPs finished off and put to rest is a goal, as is giving the Identiverse website a complete makeover. I also hope to do well in my OU course (to that end, I'm currently indulging in some nail biting for the mail delivery on Wednesday, which should be when I get my next assignment returned to me) and lastly, I hope to get out and about a bit more. I have my eyes on a trip to the continent sometime in the next twelve months, I'm also hoping to make it to NY and NC as well as my trip to PA. (Of course, there's always the possibility that I'll be NYC at some stage over the year to talk to publishers and that kind of thing...but that possibility's slim and it won't be until the latter half of the year.)
May the next twelve months be as successful (if not moreso).
